Extending GOCE Geopotential Model Using Wenzel’s Weighted
Spectral Combination

Abstract Some combined GOCE and EGM08 geopotential models are established using Wenzel’s weighted spectral combination approach. Cumulative geoid errors show that combined models have better performance than the EGM08 model alone. Results of geoid differences at GPS/leveling benchmark in America indicate that a Dir4+EGM08 combined model has best performance amongst others, enhancing geoid precision up to 8% relative to EGM08 model.
